The Emerging Polymer Technologies Summit 2017 (EPTS'17) seeks to bring together key polymer science and technology communities from Australia and around the world to share and discuss the latest innovations in polymer science, engineering and technology, including applications in the areas of health, advanced materials and sustainability. Main topics are:
Polymer fundamentals - polymer synthesis, polymerization mechanisms, polymer characterization, polymer and material properties.
Polymers for medical, biological and personal care applications - biosensing, drug delivery, biomaterials and implants, diagnostics, imaging agents, and biological separations.
Polymers for the environment and sustainability – electroactive polymers, solar cells, polymer light-emitting diodes, fuel cells, membranes (e.g for desalination), water treatment, environmental sensors, recycling, green materials, and polymers derived from bio or eco sources.
Polymers for advanced materials – polymer nanocomposites, carbon fibre composites, nanostructured materials, coatings, dispersants, polymers for 3D printing, porous polymers, stimuli responsive polymers, polymer self-assembly, fibres and textiles.

One key feature of the summit is a session on successful translations where academics and their industry partners share their success stories from different perspectives. This session aims to provide insights on how to initiate, develop and maintain fruitful collaboration between academics and industry. Additionally, the summit will provide a session on enabling technologies for translating research .

EPTS'17 will award 10 bursaries to talented students and early career researchers. To apply, please submit your abstract online and send your CV and letter of recommendation to Dr. Tu Le at tu.le@iirnet.org by 30 June 2017.

EPTS’17 also organises an education session, at 4.15pm on Thursday 23 November 2017, where secondary school science teachers and five best students are invited to hear about developments in polymer technologies, which they may then share with their colleagues and students. The education session is free of charge but registration is essential. To register, please send an email to Dr. Tu Le at tu.le@iirnet.org.

The summit will be held in the heart of metropolitan Melbourne, the most liveable city in the world. It is a vibrant place with exquisite facilities and beautiful natural surroundings. The spring climate is ideal to visit the Twelve Apostles, Phillip island or wineries in the region. While here do not miss the opportunity to visit the amazing natural wonders of Australia and New Zealand. November is great time of the year to visit The Great Barrier Reef, Uluru (Ayer’s Rock) or Kakadu National Park.

EPTS'17 is organized by the International Innovative Research Network and hosted by the School of Engineering, RMIT University, Australia.
